The General Assembly,
Recalling its resolutions 58/211 of 23 December 2003, 61/202 of 20 December
2006, 62/193 of 19 December 2007, 63/218 of 19 December 2008 and 64/202 of
21 December 2009 and other resolutions relating to the implementation of the
United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in Those Countries
Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, Particularly in Africa, 1

of the High-level Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly on the Millennium

Recalling further the United Nations Decade for Deserts and the Fight against
Desertification (2010–2020),

Capacity-building, 4
Bali
Strategic
Plan
for
Technology
Support
and

Supporting the implementation of the Convention through joint action by the
international community in addressing the causes and the poverty impacts of
desertification and land degradation in arid, semi-arid and dry subhumid areas,
consistent with articles 1, 2 and 3 of the Convention, taking into account the tenyear strategic plan and framework to enhance the implementation of the Convention
(2008–2018) 5 and supporting the exchange of best practices and lessons learned,
including from regional cooperation, and the mobilization of adequate and
predictable financial resources,
