Commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations in 1995 The General Assembly, Recalling that on 19 October 1993 1/ it considered and took note of the report of the Preparatory Committee for the Fiftieth Anniversary of the United Nations 2/ and adopted the draft decision proposed in paragraph 16 of that report, Noting that, in paragraph 14 of the report of the Preparatory Committee, it was stated that anniversary and commemorative programmes and events in connection with the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations could not be financed from the regular budget, but would be financed from a Trust Fund for the Fiftieth Anniversary Celebrations established by the Secretary-General for that purpose, Noting also that, in paragraph 15 of the report of the Preparatory Committee, it is recorded that "the Committee agreed that it was essential to the effective functioning and proper management of the fiftieth anniversary that its secretariat be assured of adequate staff and related resources", ____________ 1/ See Official Records of the General Assembly, Forty-eighth Session, Plenary Meetings, 32nd meeting. 2/ Ibid., Supplement No. 48 (A/48/48). /...
