Human rights and indigenous peoples The Human Rights Council, Bearing in mind that the General Assembly, in its resolution 59/174 of 20 December 2004, proclaimed the Second International Decade of the World’s Indigenous People, Bearing in mind also General Assembly resolution 60/251 of 15 March 2006 and Council resolutions 5/1 on institution-building of the Council and 5/2 on the code of conduct for special procedures mandate holders of the Council, both of 18 June 2007, Recalling Commission on Human Rights resolutions 2001/57 of 24 April 2001, 2002/65 of 25 April 2002, 2003/56 of 24 April 2003, 2004/62 of 21 April 2004 and 2005/51 of 20 April 2005 on human rights and indigenous issues, Recalling also Council resolutions 6/12 of 28 September 2007, 6/36 of 14 December 2007 and 9/7 of 24 September 2008, Recalling further the adoption of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples by the General Assembly in its resolution 61/295 of 13 September 2007, * The resolutions and decisions adopted by the Human Rights Council will be contained in the report of the Council on its twelfth session (A/HRC/12/50), chap.
