Follow-up to the Naples Political Declaration and Global Action Plan
against Organized Transnational Crime
The General Assembly,
Recalling its resolution 49/159 of 23 December 1994, in which it approved the Naples Political
Declaration and the Global Action Plan against Organized Transnational Crime, adopted by the World
Ministerial Conference on Organized Transnational Crime, held at Naples, Italy, from 21 to 23 November
1994,1
Recalling also Economic and Social Council resolution 1996/27 of 24 July 1996, and bearing in mind
Council resolution 1997/22 of 21 July 1997,
Recalling further its resolution 51/120 of 12 December 1996 on the question of the elaboration of an
international convention against organized transnational crime,
Convinced of the importance of continuous action by Member States aimed at the full implementation
of the Naples Political Declaration and Global Action Plan,
Reiterating the need for increased technical cooperation activities and the provision of practical
assistance to requesting Member States for the implementation of the Naples Political Declaration and Global
Action Plan,
1. Takes note of the reports of the Secretary-General, submitted to the Commission on Crime
Prevention and Criminal Justice at its sixth session, on the implementation of the Naples Political Declaration
