70/138. The girl child
The General Assembly,
Reaffirming its resolution 68/146 of 18 December 2013 and all relevant
resolutions on the girl child, and recalling its resolution 66/170 of 19 December
2011 on the International Day of the Girl Child and the agreed conclusions of
the Commission on the Status of Wome n, in particular those relevant to the girl
child,
Recalling all human rights and other instruments relevant to the rights of the
child, in particular the girl child, including the Convention on the Rights of the
Child, 1 the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against
Women, 2 the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, 3 the Optional
Protocols thereto 4 and the Convention on Consent to Marriage, Minimum Age for
Marriage and Registration of Marriages, 5
Welcoming the adoption of the outcome document of the United Nations
summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda, entitled
“Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, 6 and the
Addis Ababa Action Agenda of the Third International Conference on Financing for
Development, 7 and reaffirming other internationally agreed development goals and
commitments relevant to the girl child,
Reaffirming all relevant outcomes of major United Nations summits and
conferences relevant to the girl child, including the outcome document of the
twenty-seventh special session of the General Assembly on children, entitled “A
