57/292. Questions relating to the programme budget for the biennium
2002–2003
The General Assembly,
I
Plan to increase the regular budget component of the
United Nations Office at Nairobi
Recalling paragraph 163 of its resolution 56/253 of 24 December 2001, by which it
requested the Secretary-General to bring the financial arrangements of the United Nations
Office at Nairobi into line with those of similar United Nations administrative offices,

Takes note of the report of the Secretary-General on the plan to increase the
regular budget component of the United Nations Office at Nairobi,1 and endorses the
recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions
thereon;2
2.
Welcomes the intention of the Secretary-General to continue to strengthen the
United Nations Office at Nairobi, and urges him to increase the regular budget component
of the Office in future bienniums so as to ensure that the Office is able fully to execute
programmes and activities within its mandate;
3.
Requests the Secretary-General to take into account the provisions of the
present resolution in the context of the proposed programme budget for the biennium
2004–2005;
