Observer status for the International Seabed Authority in the General Assembly The General Assembly, Aware of the importance of the effective implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 December 1982 1/ and of the Agreement relating to the Implementation of Part XI of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, 2/ and their uniform consistent application, as well as of the growing need to promote and facilitate international cooperation on the law of the sea and ocean affairs at the global, regional and subregional levels, Noting the Authority at its Authority at the deliberations of decision of the Assembly of the International Seabed resumed second session to seek observer status for the United Nations in order to enable it to participate in the the General Assembly, 1.
