A/RES/60/89 costs of the core staff of the Institute should be funded from the regular budget of the United Nations, 1. Welcomes the twenty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research; 2. Recognizes the importance, the timeliness and the high quality of the work of the Institute; 3. Reiterates its conviction that the Institute should continue to conduct independent research on problems relating to disarmament and security and to undertake specialized research requiring a high degree of expertise; Appeals to all Member States to continue to make financial contributions 4. to the Institute in order to ensure its viability and the quality of its work over the long term; Recommends that the Secretary-General implement the relevant 5. recommendations of the Office of Internal Oversight Services and the decisions of the Board of Trustees of the Institute and continue to seek ways to increase the funding of the Institute, within existing resources. 62nd plenary meeting 8 December 2005 2
