A/RES/55/190 Having considered the report of the Secretary-General, 2 and the draft text of an international development strategy for the first decade of the new millennium, submitted by the Secretary-General, 3 1. Expresses regret that the consultations foreseen in resolution 54/206 of 22 December 1999 could not be held; 2. Decides to postpone the further development of a new international development strategy until after the aforementioned meetings have been held; 3. Requests the Secretary-General to provide the General Assembly at its fifty-seventh session with an overview of the challenges and constraints as well as progress made towards achieving the major development goals and objectives adopted by the United Nations during the decade of the 1990s; 4. Decides to include in the provisional agenda of its fifty-sixth session the sub-item entitled “Sustainable development and international economic cooperation: implementation of the commitments and policies agreed upon in the Declaration on International Economic Cooperation, in particular the Revitalization of Economic Growth and Development of the Developing Countries, and implementation of the International Development Strategy for the Fourth United Nations Decade”. 87th plenary meeting 20 December 2000 2 3 2 A/55/209.
