48/113.
Convening of a United Nations conference for the
comprehensive consideration and review of the problems
of refugees, returnees, displaced persons and migrants
The General Assembly,
Recalling the 1951 Convention 1/ and the 1967 Protocol 2/ relating to
the Status of Refugees,
Taking into consideration the complexity and urgency of the global
refugee crisis and the need for the international community to adopt a
comprehensive approach for the coordination of action with regard to refugees,
returnees, displaced persons and migrants,
Noting that the International Conference on Population and Development,
to be held at Cairo from 5 to 13 September 1994, will address matters related
to refugees, displaced persons and migrants,
Welcoming the continued work of the Special Representative of the
Secretary-General on Internally Displaced Persons,
Recognizing the need to develop innovative strategies, mechanisms and
decisions in this field,

Takes note of the proposal to convene a United Nations conference
for the comprehensive consideration and review of the problems of refugees,
returnees, displaced persons and migrants;
