Report of the Special Rapporteur on the sale of children,
child prostitution and child pornography
Summary
The present report is being submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution
64/146 and is the first report submitted to the Assembly by the current Special
Rapporteur. It describes the activities undertaken from September 2009 to July 2010
in the discharge of the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the sale of children,
child prostitution and child pornography.
In the context of the tenth anniversary of the adoption of the Optional Protocol
to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child
prostitution and child pornography, the present report focuses on remaining
challenges with respect to awareness and understanding of these problems and the
actions undertaken to address them. The recommendations of the Special Rapporteur
set out specific measures to improve the effective implementation of the Protocol:
a better understanding and greater awareness for better action.
