Report of the Joint Inspection Unit on policies and practices in the use of the services of private management consulting firms in the organizations of the United Nations system The General Assembly, Recalling its resolutions 55/232 of 23 December 2000 and 55/247 of 12 April 2001, Having considered the report of the Joint Inspection Unit on policies and practices in the use of the services of private management consulting firms in the organizations of the United Nations system1 and the note by the Secretary-General transmitting his comments as well as those of the Administrative Committee on Coordination thereon,2 1. Endorses the elements contained in paragraphs (b) and (d) of recommendation 1, and recommendations 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the Joint Inspection Unit;1 2. Invites the Secretary-General and participating organizations of the United Nations system, when addressing the issues raised in paragraphs (a) and (c) of recommendation 1, and in recommendations 6, 7 and 8 of the Unit and using the services of private management consulting firms, to take fully into account the relevant provisions of General Assembly resolutions 55/232 and 55/247. 92nd plenary meeting 24 December 2001 _______________ 1 2 01 49597 See A/54/702.
