E/2002/27 E/CN.6/2002/13 Chapter II Adoption of the agenda and other organizational matters 1. The Commission on the Status of Women considered agenda item 2 at its 1st, 9th and 12th meetings, on 4, 11 and 15 March 2002. It had before it the provisional agenda (E/CN.6/2002/1) and a letter dated 8 October 2001 from the President of the Economic and Social Council to the Chairperson of the Commission on the Status of Women (E/CN.6/2002/10). 2. At the 1st meeting, on 4 March, statements were made by the observers for India and Suriname on the organization of work (see chap. VIII, sect. D, for the agenda and organization of work). Action taken by the Commission Election of the Bureau of the Commission on the Status of Women 3. At the 9th meeting, on 11 March, the Commission had before it a draft decision entitled “Election of the Bureau of the Commission on the Status of Women” (E/CN.6/2002/L.6), which had been submitted by the Chairman on the basis of informal consultations. 4. At the 12th meeting, on 15 March, the Commission was advised that the draft decision contained no programme budget implications. 5. At the same meeting, the Commission recommended the draft decision for adoption by the Economic and Social Council (see chap. I, sect. B, draft decision I). Further organizational matters of the Commission on the Status of Women 6. At the 12th meeting, on 15 March, the Commission had before it a draft decision entitled “Further organizational matters of the Commission on the Status of Women” (E/CN.6/2002/L.8), which had been submitted by the Vice-Chairperson on the basis of informal consultations. 7. The Commission was advised that the draft decision contained no programme budget implications. 8. At the same meeting, the Commission adopted the draft decision, as orally corrected (see chap. I, sect. C, decision 46/101). 9. Before the draft decision was adopted, statements were made by the representatives of the United States of America and Chile and the observer for India, as well as by the Vice-Chairperson; after it was adopted, statements were made by the representative of Guatemala and the observer for Iraq. 24
