the revised draft resolution, as orally revised.
50. At the same meeting, the Commission was advised that the revised draft
resolution contained no programme budget implications.
51. Also at the same meeting, the Commission recommended the revised draft
resolution, as orally revised, to the Economic and Social Council for adoption (see
chap. I, sect. A, draft resolution II).
52. After the draft resolution was adopted, the observer for Spain made a statement
on behalf of the European Union.
Mainstreaming a gender perspective into all policies and programmes in the
United Nations system
53. At the 9th meeting, on 11 March, the representative of Denmark, on behalf of
Argentina, Australia, 1 Belgium, Canada,1 Chile, Croatia, the Czech Republic,1
Denmark, Finland, France,1 Germany, Greece, 1 Guyana,1 Italy, Liechtenstein,1 the
Netherlands, New Zealand, 1 Nigeria,1 Norway, 1 Portugal,1 Senegal, Spain, 1
Sweden, 1 Turkey and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,
introduced a draft resolution entitled “Mainstreaming a gender perspective into all
policies and programmes in the United Nations system” (E/CN.6/2002/L.5).
Subsequently, Angola, 1 Austria, 1 Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, 1 Botswana, Brazil,
Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cyprus,1 the Dominican Republic, Gabon, Ghana, 1
Guatemala, Guinea, Iceland,1 India, 1 Indonesia, Ireland, 1 Israel,1 Jamaica,1 Japan,
Kenya,1 Lithuania, Luxembourg, 1 Malawi, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco,1
Namibia,1 the Republic of Korea, Romania, 1 South Africa, Suriname,1 Switzerland, 1
Thailand,1 Tunisia, Ukraine,1 the United Republic of Tanzania, the United States of
America and Venezuela 1 joined in sponsoring the draft resolution.
54. At the 12th meeting, on 15 March, the Commission was advised that the draft
resolution contained no programme budget implications.
55. At the same meeting, the Commission adopted the draft resolution (see chap. I,
sect. C, resolution 46/3).
Draft agreed conclusions on eradicating poverty, including through the
empowerment of women throughout their life cycle in a globalizing world
(agenda item 3 (c) (i))
56. At the 14th meeting, on 15 March, the Vice-Chairperson of the Commission,
Fernando Estellita Lins de Salvo Coimbra (Brazil), reported on the outcome of
consultations held on agenda item 3 (c) (i) and introduced draft agreed conclusions
on the sub-item, which were contained in an informal paper.
57. At the same meeting, the Commission adopted the draft agreed conclusions
submitted by the Vice-Chairperson, Mr. Coimbra, and requested their endorsement
