66/141. Rights of the child
The General Assembly,
Reaffirming all its previous resolutions on the rights of the child in their
entirety, the most recent of which is resolution 65/197 of 21 December 2010,
Emphasizing that the Convention on the Rights of the Child 1 constitutes the
standard in the promotion and protection of the rights of the child, and, bearing in
mind the importance of the Optional Protocols to the Convention, 2 calling for their
universal ratification and effective implementation, as well as that of other human
rights instruments,
Recalling the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, 3 the
International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced
Disappearance 4 and the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of
All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, 5
Reaffirming that the general principles of the Convention on the Rights of the
Child, including, inter alia, the best interests of the child, non-discrimination,
participation and survival and development, provide the framework for all actions
concerning children, including adolescents,
Reaffirming also the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action, 6 the United
Nations Millennium Declaration 7 and the outcome document of the twenty-seventh
special session of the General Assembly on children, entitled “A world fit for
children”, 8 and recalling the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the
