A/RES/58/248 (e) To continue to consider, on a priority basis, ways and means of improving its working methods and enhancing its efficiency with a view to identifying widely acceptable measures for future implementation; Invites the Special Committee at its session in 2004 to continue to 4. identify new subjects for consideration in its future work with a view to contributing to the revitalization of the work of the United Nations; Notes the readiness of the Special Committee, in the context of its 5. consideration of the subject of assistance to working groups on the revitalization of the work of the United Nations and coordination between the Special Committee and other working groups dealing with the reform of the Organization, to provide, within its mandate, such assistance as may be sought at the request of other subsidiary bodies of the General Assembly in relation to any issues before them; Requests the Special Committee to submit a report on its work to the 6. General Assembly at its fifty-ninth session; 7. Takes note of paragraphs 42 and 43 of the report of the SecretaryGeneral,2 commends the Secretary-General for his continued efforts to reduce the backlog in the publication of the Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs, and endorses the efforts of the Secretary-General to eliminate the backlog in the publication of the Repertoire of the Practice of the Security Council; 8. Encourages the Secretary-General in his continuous efforts to eliminate the backlog in the publication of the Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs and of the Repertoire of the Practice of the Security Council, including by exploring options involving cooperation with academic institutions as a means to achieve this aim without prejudice to the continuation of their timely publication; Commends the Secretary-General for his initiative to make Repertory 9. studies available on the Internet; 10. Requests the Secretary-General to make every effort, within the level of the currently approved budget, towards making available electronically all versions of the Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs as early as possible; 11. Also requests the Secretary-General to submit a report on both the Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs and the Repertoire of the Practice of the Security Council to the General Assembly at its fifty-ninth session; 12. Decides to include in the provisional agenda of its fifty-ninth session the item entitled “Report of the Special Committee on the Charter of the United Nations and on the Strengthening of the Role of the Organization”. 79th plenary meeting 23 December 2003 3
