Bearing in mind the efforts made by national Governments, the World Health Organization is invited to take the lead role in this area, in coordination with the United Nations Children's Fund, the United Nations Population Fund, the United Nations Development Programme, the Joint and Co-sponsored United Nations Programme on Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the Secretariat and other relevant United Nations entities, drawing on other expertise and knowledge as appropriate. The international community is encouraged to provide financial and technical assistance to developing countries to improve their capacity-building in terms of indicators, data collection, monitoring, and evaluation in this field.
