A/HRC/RES/58/32 4. Notes the efforts made by the Government of Haiti to restore security in the country and its renewed requests for coordinated and targeted international action to support its efforts; 5. Calls on the Government of Haiti to step up its efforts to ensure respect for and the promotion and protection of human rights, to strengthen the rule of law, including the judicial and prison systems, and to combat gender-based violence and discrimination, as well as corruption and impunity, by supporting national human rights institutions and continuing to implement the recommendations made and accepted during the last cycle of the universal periodic review3 and the recommendations of other United Nations bodies, in particular those relating to armed gang activity; 6. Invites the Haitian authorities to continue to engage in an inclusive dialogue among all the Haitian stakeholders concerned, with the aim of finding a lasting solution to the multidimensional crisis that Haiti is experiencing, including by organizing free and transparent elections with a view to restoring democratic institutions; 7. Urges the States Members of the United Nations, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, relevant United Nations agencies and other stakeholders, within the framework of their mandates, to step up their support for the measures taken and efforts made by the Government of Haiti to combat armed gang violence and the illicit sale, importation and circulation of firearms and to ensure respect for human rights in Haiti, responding in particular to the repeated requests of the Government of Haiti for coordinated and targeted international action, including through the provision of technical assistance and capacity-building; 8. Requests the Office of the High Commissioner to cooperate with the Government of Haiti by providing technical assistance and support for building the human rights promotion and protection capacities of the Haitian judiciary, security forces and prison administration, to enable it to pursue its strategy for combating armed gang activity and restoring the rule of law and to support the implementation of the recommendations made and accepted during the last cycle of the universal periodic review; 9. Decides to extend, for a renewable period of one year, the mandate of the independent human rights expert appointed by the High Commissioner and tasked with undertaking, with the assistance of the Office of the High Commissioner and in collaboration with the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti, the monitoring of the human rights situation in Haiti, ensuring, in particular, the inclusion of a gender perspective in all of his work; 10. Requests the independent expert to devote greater attention to the situation of children, women and girls and to trafficking in persons, to monitor the impact of illicit arms trafficking on the human rights situation in Haiti and to formulate recommendations to consolidate national, regional and international responses on this issue; 11. Also requests the independent expert to provide advice and technical assistance to the Government of Haiti, national human rights institutions and civil society organizations, including women’s rights organizations, to assist in their efforts to ensure respect for and the promotion and protection of human rights; 12. Urges all States to strengthen measures to prevent, detect and disrupt illicit arms supply chains, in line with their international obligations; 13. Requests the High Commissioner to provide to the Council, within the framework of an interactive dialogue with the participation of the independent human rights expert, an oral update on the situation of human rights in Haiti at its sixtieth session and a report on the subject at its sixty-first session; 14.
