A/RES/51/18 Page 2 Islamic Conference, its subsidiary organs and its specialized and affiliated institutions, Noting also the encouraging progress made in the nine priority areas of cooperation, as well as in the identification of other areas of cooperation, Convinced that the strengthening of cooperation between the specialized agencies and other organizations of the United Nations system and the Organization of the Islamic Conference and its organs and institutions contributes to the promotion of the purposes and principles of the United Nations, Taking into account the report of the Secretary-General entitled "An Agenda for Peace",2 in particular section VII, concerning cooperation with regional arrangements and organizations, and the "Supplement to An Agenda for Peace",3 Noting with appreciation the determination of both organizations to strengthen further the existing cooperation by developing specific proposals in the designated priority areas of cooperation, as well as in the political field, Welcoming the results of the general meeting of the organizations and agencies of the United Nations system and the Organization of the Islamic Conference and its subsidiary organs and specialized and affiliated institutions, held at Geneva from 26 to 28 June 1996, Welcoming also the high-level meeting convened by the Secretary-General on 15 February 1996 of regional and other intergovernmental organizations, including the Organization of the Islamic Conference, with which the United Nations has cooperated in preventive diplomacy, peacemaking and peace-keeping, 1. Takes note of the conclusions and recommendations adopted by the general meeting of the organizations and agencies of the United Nations system and the Organization of the Islamic Conference and its subsidiary organs and specialized and affiliated institutions; 3. Notes with satisfaction the active participation of the Organization of the Islamic Conference in the work of the United Nations towards the realization of the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations; 4.
