(d) That, in this context, the provisions of General Assembly resolution 1798
(XVII) of 11 December 1962 will apply only to the substantive part of the sessions
of the Commission.
Draft decision II
The Commission on the Status of Women, recalling its decision 45/103 of 16
March 2001 on the communications procedure of the Commission and ways and
means to make it more effective and efficient, and having considered the reports of
the Secretary-General, 32 and the different views expressed by Members States and
Observers of the Commission on the Status of Women, recommends to the
Economic and Social Council the adoption of the following draft decision:
Communications concerning the status of women: communications procedure
The Economic and Social Council,
Reaffirming the mandate of the Commission on the Status of Women as set out
in its resolutions 76 (V) of 5 August 1947, 304 I (XI) of 14 and 17 July 1950,
1983/27 of 26 May 1983, 1992/19 of 30 July 1992 and 1993/11 of 27 July 1993,
Decides, in order to make the communications procedure of the Commission
on the Status of Women more effective and efficient:
(a) That the Commission, starting from its forty-seventh session, should
appoint, at each session, the members of the Working Group on Communications on
the Status of Women for the next session so that the members can meet to enable the
Secretariat to issue their report three working days before the adoption of the agenda
by the Commission;
(b) To request the Secretary-General (i) to inform Governments about each
communication pertaining to them that will be considered by the Commission and
give them at least twelve weeks before the consideration of such communications by
the Working Group on communications, and (ii) to ensure that the members of the
Working Group receive in advance the lists of communications, including replies
from Governments, if any, to be taken into account in preparing its report for
examination by the Commission;
(c) To request the Secretary-General to further publicize the communications
procedure of the Commission.

Report of the Commission on the Status of Women on its forty-sixth session and
the provisional agenda for the forty-seventh session of the Commission
The Economic and Social Council takes note of the report of the Commission
on the Status of Women on its forty-sixth session and approves the provisional
agenda for the forty-seventh session of the Commission set out below.
