Cooperation between the United Nations and the Council of Europe The General Assembly, Recalling the Agreement between the Council of Europe and the Secretariat of the United Nations signed on 15 December 1951 and the Arrangement on Cooperation and Liaison between the secretariats of the United Nations and the Council of Europe of 19 November 1971, Welcoming the report of the Secretary-General on cooperation between the United Nations and the Council of Europe, 1 1. Reiterates its appreciation for the ongoing fruitful cooperation between the United Nations and its agencies and the Council of Europe, including its Commissioner for Human Rights and its partial and enlarged agreements, both at the level of headquarters and in the field; Notes the constructive interest of the Parliamentary Assembly of the 2. Council of Europe in the reform process of the United Nations, including its willingness to contribute to the discussion on how to give a parliamentary dimension to the world Organization; Requests the Secretary-General of the United Nations to continue 3. exploring, with the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe, possibly by arranging a meeting of representatives of the two organizations in the light of the outcome of the Third Summit of the Council of Europe, possibilities for further enhancement of cooperation between the organizations; Decides to include in the provisional agenda of its sixty-first session the 4. sub-item entitled “Cooperation between the United Nations and the Council of Europe”, and requests the Secretary-General to submit to the General Assembly at _______________ 1 04-48460 A/59/303, part one, sect. V.
