Framework for a Renewed United Nations-African Union Partnership on Africa’s Integration and Development Agenda 2017–2027 The General Assembly, Recalling the 2005 World Summit Outcome, 1 through which world leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the development and implementation of a 10-year capacity-building programme for the African Union, Recalling also the adoption of the framework for the 10-year capacity-building programme for the African Union set out in the declaration on enhancing United Nations-African Union cooperation, signed in Addis Ababa on 16 November 2006 by the Secretary-General and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, 2 which highlights the key areas for cooperation between the African Union and the United Nations, Noting that the 10-year capacity-building programme for the African Union has since been in effect and has provided an important context for focused United Nations support to the capacity-building efforts of the African Union, Reaffirming the political declaration on Africa’s development needs adopted at the high-level meeting on Africa’s development needs on 22 September 2008, 3 Reaffirming also its resolution 70/1 of 25 September 2015, entitled “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, in which it adopted a comprehensive, far-reaching and people-centred set of universal and transformative Sustainable Development Goals and targets, its commitment to working tirelessly for the full implementation of the Agenda by 2030, its recognition that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development, its commitment to achieving sustainable development in its three dimensions — economic, social and environmental — in a balanced and integrated _______________ 1 Resolution 60/1.
