49/147.
Measures to combat contemporary forms of racism,
racial discrimination, xenophobia and related
intolerance
The General Assembly,
Having examined the report of the Special Rapporteur of the Commission
on Human Rights on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination,
xenophobia and related intolerance, 1/
1.
Expresses its full support for the work of the Special Rapporteur
of the Commission on Human Rights on contemporary forms of racism, racial
discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance;
2.
Urges Member States to consider earmarking funds specially for the
mandate of the Special Rapporteur within the Trust Fund for the Programme for
the Decade for Action to Combat Racism and Racial Discrimination;
3.
Requests the Secretary-General, without further delay, to provide
the Special Rapporteur with all the necessary human and financial assistance
in carrying out his mandate and enabling him to submit in a timely manner an
interim report to the General Assembly at its fiftieth session under the item
entitled "Elimination of racism and racial discrimination".
