A/69/269 Report of the Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children Summary The present report is divided into three main sections: an introduction, an outline of the activities undertaken by the Special Rapporteur during the reporting period and an assessment of the first decade of the mandate on trafficking in persons , especially women and children. In follow-up to the report of the Special Rapporteur to the Human Rights Council (A/HRC/26/37), the present report draws the attention of the General Assembly to the major areas of focus and main achievements during the first decade of the mandate, the contribution to key conceptual and legal gains and the challenges of the past 10 years. In conclusion, the Special Rapporteur offers recommendations to future mandate holders, States and others on how to advance the work of combating trafficking. Finally, the basic principles on the right to an effective remedy, which were finalized through consultations with States and other stakeholders and written submissions, are presented (see annex). 2/23 14-58845
