Impact of climate change on the right to food 2015, para. 22
Paragraph
Paragraph text
Freshwater sources include rainwater, surface water and groundwater, all of which are crucial to food security. When rainfall is insufficient, agriculture relies on irrigation. As some 40 per cent of all irrigation relies on groundwater sources, climate-induced impacts on the sustainability of groundwater sources have a tremendous impact on the potential for food production.
