Recognizing that violence against indigenous women and girls has a negative impact on their enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms and con stitutes a major impediment to women’s full, equal and effective participation in society, the economy and political decision-making, and in this regard recalling Human Rights Council resolution 32/19 of 1 July 2016, entitled “Accelerating efforts to eliminate violence against women: preventing and responding to violence against women and girls, including indigenous women and girls”, 9 which brings closer attention to this issue, and recognizing also the negative effects of multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination,
