After-service health insurance The General Assembly, Recalling its resolution 58/249 A of 23 December 2003, section III of its resolution 60/255 of 8 May 2006 and its resolutions 60/283 of 7 July 2006 and 61/264 of 4 April 2007, Having considered the report of the Secretary-General on liabilities and proposed funding for after-service health insurance benefits 1 and the related report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions, 2 0F 1F Having also considered the report of the Joint Inspection Unit on United Nations system staff medical coverage 3 and the comments of the Secretary-General and those of the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination thereon, 4 2F 3F 1. Takes note of the report of the Secretary-General on liabilities and proposed funding for after-service health insurance benefits;1 2. Also takes note of the conclusions and recommendations contained in the report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions; 2 3. Requests the Secretary-General to submit to the General Assembly at its sixty-seventh session, for its priority consideration, a report on managing afterservice health insurance liabilities, bearing in mind that the “pay-as-you-go” principle is also one of the viable options, and to include in that report, information on and an analysis of the following issues, inter alia; (a) Scope and coverage of existing after-service health insurance plans; (b) Administration costs related to alternative financial options; _______________ 1 A/64/366.
