Summary
This report provides an account of the activities of the mandate and the Special
Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons, Chaloka Beyani, during the
reporting period (January 2012–February 2013). It also provides a thematic analysis of the
particular situation of internally displaced women, taking stock of progress to date with
regard to protection and assistance for them, examining some of the outstanding challenges
to effective responses to their human rights and needs and offering initial recommendations
to address these issues.
