Policies and programmes involving youth The General Assembly, Recalling its resolution 50/81 of 14 December 1995, by which it adopted the World Programme of Action for Youth to the Year 2000 and Beyond, annexed thereto, as an integral part of that resolution, Recalling also its resolutions 32/135 of 16 December 1977 and 36/17 of 9 November 1981, by which it adopted guidelines for the improvement of the channels of communication between the United Nations and youth and youth organizations, and 40/14 of 18 November 1985, entitled “International Youth Year: Participation, Development, Peace”, by which it endorsed the guidelines for further planning and suitable follow-up in the field of youth as contained in the report of the Advisory Committee for the International Youth Year on its fourth session, held at Vienna from 25 March to 3 April 1985, 1 Recalling further its resolution 54/120 of 17 December 1999, in which it took note with appreciation of the Lisbon Declaration on Youth Policies and Programmes adopted at the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth in 1998, 2 Welcoming the adoption of the Dakar Framework for Action at the World Education Forum, 3 Recalling the United Nations Millennium Declaration adopted by the heads of State and Government on 8 September 2000, 4 and recognizing that the Declaration includes important goals and targets pertaining to youth, Recalling and reaffirming the commitments made at the major United Nations conferences and summits since 1990 and their follow-up processes, Noting in particular that, in the World Programme of Action, regional and interregional conferences of ministers responsible for youth affairs in Africa, Asia, _______________ 1 A/40/256, annex.
