Protection of migrants The General Assembly, Recalling all its previous resolutions on the protection of migrants, the most recent of which is resolution 74/148 of 18 December 2019, and recalling also Human Rights Council resolutions 35/17 of 22 June 2017, 1 36/5 of 28 September 2017, 2 41/7 of 11 July 2019 3 and 47/12 of 12 July 2021, 4 Reaffirming the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 5 which proclaims that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights and that everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set out therein, without distinction of any kind, in particular as to race, Reaffirming also that everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each State and that everyone has the right to leave any country, including his or her own, and to return to his or her country, Reiterating that everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law, Recognizing that all migrants, regardless of their migration status, are human rights holders, and reaffirming the need to protect their safety, dignity, human rights __________________ 1 2 3 4 5 21-19207 (E) See Official Records of the General Assembly, Seventy-second Session, Supplement No. 53 (A/72/53), chap.
