56/210. International Conference on Financing for Development
The General Assembly,
Recalling its resolutions 46/205 of 20 December 1991, 48/187 of 21 December
1993, 50/93 of 20 December 1995, 52/179 of 18 December 1997, 53/173 of
15 December 1998, 54/196 of 22 December 1999 and 55/213 of 20 December 2000
on the high-level international intergovernmental consideration of financing for
development,
Recalling also its resolution 55/245 A of 21 March 2001, on convening an
International Conference on Financing for Development, in which it accepted with
gratitude the generous offer of Mexico to host the Conference, which is to be held at
Monterrey from 18 to 22 March 2002,

Takes note of the deliberations of the Preparatory Committee for the
International Conference on Financing for Development at its first, second and third
substantive sessions; 1
2.
Stresses the importance of continued substantive consideration of the
item on financing for development;
3.
Requests the Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly at its
fifty-seventh session on the outcome of the International Conference on Financing
for Development;
4.
Decides to include in the provisional agenda of its fifty-seventh session
the item entitled “High-level international intergovernmental consideration of
financing for development”.
