[Calls upon all States:] To eliminate all forms of discrimination against girls and the root causes of son preference, which result in harmful and unethical practices, inter alia by enacting and enforcing legislation protecting girls from violence, including female infanticide and prenatal sex selection, genital mutilation, incest, sexual abuse and exploitation, and by developing age-appropriate, safe and confidential programmes and medical, social and psychological support services to assist girls who are subjected to violence;
