Data on the availability of assistive devices, personal assistance and other support services is generally unavailable in low- and middle-income countries. It is important that States periodically conduct a needs assessment to determine and address the gaps in the availability of assistive devices and support services, and the effectiveness of that support. That could be done through community-based strategies and surveys.
