A/RES/49/243 Page 2 Noting that there is need for more time and opportunity for many non-governmental organizations to clarify their qualifications for accreditation to the Conference, 1. Requests the secretariat of the Fourth World Conference on Women: Action for Equality, Development and Peace to communicate immediately in writing with each non-governmental organization which, by 15 March 1995, had applied for accreditation to the Conference but had not yet been accredited, listing the reasons why the secretariat had not forwarded the name of the organization to the Commission on the Status of Women for accreditation; 2. Also requests the secretariat of the Conference to invite those non-governmental organizations referred to in paragraphs 1 above and 4 below to submit, within four weeks of the date of transmittal of the secretariat’s written communication, further relevant information concerning their qualifications for accreditation; 3. Requests that the secretariat of the Conference be responsible for the receipt and evaluation, in accordance with the provisions of the annex to General Assembly resolution 48/108, of all previously supplied information, as well as that submitted by non-governmental organizations under the terms of paragraph 2 above; 4. Requests the secretariat of the Conference to extend the deadline for application for accreditation by non-governmental organizations until 28 April 1995, to continue to consider applications received by that date and to ensure that those applications are considered in a transparent manner, in accordance with the criteria set forth in the annex to resolution 48/108; 5. Also requests the secretariat of the Conference, prior to the convening of the substantive session of 1995 of the Economic and Social Council, to prepare a list of those non-governmental organizations referred to in paragraphs 1 and 4 which, considering all available information, appear to have met the criteria set forth in the annex to resolution 48/108 for accreditation to the Conference; 6. Further requests the secretariat of the Conference to provide a list of those non-governmental organizations referred to in paragraphs 1 and 4 which the secretariat does not recommend for accreditation, together with the reasons for non-recommendation, to all members of the Economic and Social Council no later than one week prior to the substantive session of 1995 of the Council; 7. Authorizes the Economic and Social Council, at its substantive session of 1995, to decide on all pending proposals for accreditation of non-governmental organizations; 8. Requests the secretariat of the Conference, after the final consideration by the Economic and Social Council of the list of the non-governmental organizations referred to in paragraphs 1 and 4, promptly to notify those organizations of the final determination made by the Council. 102nd plenary meeting 21 April 1995
