Scope, modalities, format and organization of the high-level meeting on improving global road safety The General Assembly, Recognizing that, through the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 1 and its Sustainable Development Goals in September 2015, Heads of State and Government made a bold commitment to halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents and to provide access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport systems for all, improving road safety, Recalling that the Sustainable Development Goals and targets are integrated and indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development, and acknowledging the importance of reaching the road safety-related targets of the 2030 Agenda, Recognizing that the adoption of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development 2 highlighted the importance of investing in sustainable and resilient transport infrastructure, Acknowledging that the New Urban Agenda adopted at the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) 3 supported measures to improve road safety and integrate it into sustainable mobility and transport infrastructure planning and design, Recalling the outcome of the high-level meeting on universal health coverage, and reaffirming its political declaration, entitled “Universal health coverage: moving together to build a healthier world”, 4 in which it reiterated, inter alia, the need to __________________ 1 2 3 4 21-10118 (E) Resolution Resolution Resolution Resolution 280721 70/1. 69/313, annex 71/256, annex. 74/2. *2110118*
