International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of
Women
The General Assembly,
Recalling its resolution 50/163 of 22 December 1995,
Taking note of Economic and Social Council resolution 1996/39 of 25 July 1996,
Taking note also of the report of the Board of Trustees of the International Research and Training
Institute for the Advancement of Women on its seventeenth session,1
Reaffirming paragraph 334 of the Platform for Action adopted by the Fourth World Conference on
Women on 15 September 1995,2
Concerned about the declining resource base of the Institute,
1. Welcomes the appointment of the Director of the International Research and Training Institute for
the Advancement of Women, and takes note with appreciation of the work done by the previous Acting
Director;
2. Urges the Secretary-General to fill the existing vacancies in the Institute in order to permit it to
carry out its mandate;
