Assistance for humanitarian relief and the economic and social rehabilitation of Somalia The General Assembly, Recalling its resolutions 47/160 of 18 December 1992, 48/201 of 21 December 1993, 49/21 L of 20 December 1994, 50/58 G of 20 December 1995, 51/30 G of 13 December 1996, 52/169 L of 16 December 1997, 53/1 M of 8 December 1998, 54/96 D of 8 December 1999 and 55/168 of 14 December 2000 as well as the resolutions and decisions of the Economic and Social Council on emergency assistance to Somalia, Recalling also Security Council resolution 733 (1992) of 23 January 1992 and all subsequent relevant resolutions, in which the Council, inter alia, urged all parties, movements and factions in Somalia to facilitate the efforts of the United Nations, the specialized agencies and humanitarian organizations to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to the affected population in Somalia, and reiterated the call for the full respect of the security and safety of the personnel of those organizations and guarantee of their complete freedom of movement in and around Mogadishu and other parts of Somalia, Recalling further the statement by the President of the Security Council of 31 October 2001, 1 in which the Security Council reiterated its support for the outcome of the Somalia National Peace Conference, held in Arta, Republic of Djibouti, and the establishment of the Transitional National Assembly and the Transitional National Government, and encouraged the Government to continue, in the spirit of constructive dialogue, the process of engaging all groups in the country, including in the north-eastern and north-western areas, with a view to preparing for the installation of permanent governance arrangements through the democratic process, Noting the cooperation between the United Nations, the Organization of African Unity, the League of Arab States, the European Union, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the countries members of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development and its Partners Forum, the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries _______________ 1 01 48074 S/PRST/2001/30; see Resolutions and Decisions of the Security Council, 2001.
