Marking the thirtieth anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and
Platform for Action
The Human Rights Council,
Guided by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations,
Reaffirming the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenants
on Human Rights, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against
Women and other relevant international human rights instruments,
Reaffirming also the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, adopted by the
Fourth World Conference on Women on 15 September 1995, taking note of the outcome
documents of its review conferences, and reaffirming further General Assembly resolution
70/1 of 25 September 2015, in which the Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable
Development, and the obligation of all States to promote and protect the full and equal
enjoyment of all human rights by all women and girls,
Noting that 2025 marks the thirtieth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on
Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which have
contributed greatly to the progress made towards achieving gender equality and the
empowerment of women and girls,
Welcoming the progress made towards achieving gender equality and the
empowerment of all women and girls while stressing that challenges and obstacles remain in
the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action,

Decides to convene, during the high-level segment at its fifty-eighth session, a
high-level panel discussion to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the Fourth World
Conference on Women, with a particular focus on the implementation of the Beijing
Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcome documents of its review conferences,
as well as on achievements, best practices and challenges in this regard;

Invites the President of the Human Rights Council to consider the theme
“Thirtieth anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action” for the annual
high-level panel discussion on human rights mainstreaming, to be held at the fifty-eighth
session of the Council;
