Summary
The Secretariat has the honor to transmit to the Human Rights Council the report of
the Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association,
Clément Nyaletsossi Voule, prepared pursuant to Council resolutions 15/21 and 41/12. In the
present report, he addresses the importance of guaranteeing access to justice in the context
of the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association. Those fundamental rights
contribute to the fight against impunity through accountability and prevent future violations
and abuses from occurring. In the report, he also recognizes the fundamental role lawyers
and legal practitioners have played and continue to play in protecting protesters around the
world.
