Summary
In the present report, the Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful
assembly and of association, Clément Nyaletsossi Voule, highlights the critical role
the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association play in ensuring
inclusive peace and democratic transition processes. The Special Rapporteur also
highlights the vital contributions by civil society and movements in building
sustainable peace and democratic transitions and identifies key barriers and
challenges. The Special Rapporteur recommends measures that all stakeholders can
take to enable, promote and support the inclusion of diverse civil society in all phases
and decision-making for such processes to ensure that peace and democratic
transitions are sustainable and just.
