A/RES/51/148 Page 2 1. Takes note with satisfaction of the conclusion, on 25 June 1996, of the Cooperation Agreement between the United Nations and the International Organization for Migration;1 2. Invites the Secretary-General of the United Nations to take the appropriate measures, in consultation with the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, to ensure that the needed effective cooperation and liaison between the secretariats of the two organizations is undertaken in order to ensure complementary actions between the two organizations; 3. Requests the Secretary-General of the United Nations, in consultation with the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, to foster systematic consultations on matters of common interest; 4. Invites the specialized agencies and other organizations, funds and programmes of the United Nations system to cooperate with the SecretaryGeneral of the United Nations and the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, in order to initiate, maintain and increase consultation and programmes with the International Organization for Migration in the attainment of their objectives; 5. Requests the Secretary-General to ensure that, in the context of the report to be submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution 50/123 of 20 December 1995 under the agenda item entitled "International migration and development, including the convening of a United Nations conference on international migration and development", the Assembly is informed of the cooperation between the United Nations and the International Organization for Migration as it develops under the Cooperation Agreement. 84th plenary meeting 13 December 1996 1 E/1996/90.
