Also decides to appropriate an amount of 1,022,900 dollars under
section 28 (Staff assessment), to be offset by an increase in the same amount
under income section 1 (Income from staff assessment);

Requests the Secretary-General to provide justification for the
establishment of the posts on a permanent basis and an explanation with regard
to the observations and recommendations contained in the report of the
Advisory Committee 5/ to the General Assembly for consideration during its
resumed forty-ninth session;

REVISED ESTIMATES UNDER SECTIONS 3A, 3B, 3C, 4, 8,
15, 24 AND 28 AND INCOME SECTION 1
1.
Approves the continuation of six temporary posts for the servicing
of the Security Council sanctions committees, with the related costs to be met
from resources currently appropriated under section 3 (Political affairs), of
the programme budget for the biennium 1994-1995; 1/
2.
Decides to accept the redeployment of 576,600 dollars from section
3 to section 8 (Department for Policy Coordination and Sustainable
Development) of the programme budget for the biennium 1994-1995 for activities
related to the international convention to combat desertification as proposed
by the Secretary-General in his report, 7/ subject to review and adjustment
by the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions and the
General Assembly;
3.
Also decides to consider the remaining proposals of the SecretaryGeneral at the resumed forty-ninth session on the basis of the report of the
Advisory Committee referred to in paragraph 4 of its report; 8/
